Recently SAIC Group has set up its department of Auto Service with a view to actively carrying out the guideline of the “17th National Congress” of the CPC “to accelerate improvement in the pattern of economic development and push forward the optimization and upgrading of the industrial structure” and “to develop modern service industries and raise its proportion and standard” and further implementing the tasks set at the 3rd Plenary Session of the 9th Congress of the CPC Committee of Shanghai that “resolute and unswerving efforts should be made to form an industrial structure that is based mainly on service industries” and “full endeavor should be exerted to promote the integrated development of the primary, the secondary and the tertiary industries.” This marks a prelude to the implementation of SAIC Group’s strategy for the development of auto service.

With the emerging of the auto service economy, the auto manufacturing industry and the auto service have been blended with and permeated into each other all the time. Now the auto service industry has become an important and indispensable link of the auto manufacturing industry, and developing the auto service trade has been taken as one of the important development strategies of SAIC Group, which will help further consolidate SAIC’s differential competitive edge and push on with the effort to realize the new round of “three major strategic targets.”

Backed by SAIC auto manufacturing business, the positioning of SAIC auto service business is to provide the two value chains of the auto industry (i.e. the OEM-based value chain and the one that is based on independent service suppliers) with an integrated and technology-and-network-based auto service solution that is unique and differentiated from those of the competitors, and finally build itself into an independent auto service supplier who has its own service brand and is capable of independent business operations.
