Roewe 550 plug-in hybrid - a leader of Chinese brands

At the 2013 Auto Guangzhou, the Shanghai Motor Passenger Vehicle Co will unveil its latest new energy offering – the Roewe 550 plug-in, a new addition to its Roewe 750 hybrid and Roewe E50 pure electric vehicle. The car uses the company’s latest development in hybrid power systems (power cell system, electronic box, and electric-drive transmission), electric steering, air-conditioning, and thermal controls. The new technologies result in electric power consumption of 12 kWh/100 km and gas consumption of 2.3 liters, which could cut fuel consumption more than 70 percent compared with traditional cars.

The SAIC Motor Commercial Vehicle Co will have its MPVG10, the latest MPV model under the MAXUS brand, with a road show as well. In addition, the 2014 edition of the V80 and the 2014 edition of the Istana will be on display. With its technology and marketing innovations, SAIC Motor Maxus has seen rapid growth in both the domestic and global markets and has become one of the most valuable brands of commercial vehicles.

SGMW, one vehicle subsidiary of SAIC Motor, is also looking for a breakthrough in the passenger vehicle business after having maintained its lead in the mini-vehicle market for several years. SGMW will be bringing its own Baojun model and the Wuling series of vehicles to Auto Guangzhou. And, it’s worth mentioning that the new Wuling Hongguang S, which hit the MPV market in August, has eye-catching performance, and sales of 39,015 vehicles, in just three months, making it a “dark horse” in the automotive market.

Deluxe sport vs. Cadillac series

Shanghai GM will be showcasing its ATS, a luxury sport vehicle from the Cadillac family, at the 2013 Auto Guangzhou, a combination of the latest design, R&D, and performance technology for Cadillac vehicles, with the price to be announced at the show.

In addition, Shanghai Volkswagen will bring its latest Lavida model vehicles, including the CrossLavida, NewLavidaSport, GranLavidaSport, LavidaBlueMotion, NewLavida, and GranLavida, giving customers a wide variety of choices for the vehicles they love.

As for commercial vehicles, NAVECO Ltd will unveil two new models - the Powerdaily2014 and Yuejin Shangjun X300 – the first of which carries on the European tradition of car-making technology and design innovation and brings a luxurious first-class experience to commercial trips. The second is a high-performance light truck that will be a strong competitor in the domestic light truck market.

In the first 10 months of this year, SAIC and its joint venture sold 4.245 million vehicles, further strengthening its lead position in the domestic auto business. And it will continue its principle of “Harmony among people, vehicles, and society”, continue its innovations, and continue to apply energy conservation and environmentally-friendly technology for a green, comfortable, and convenient means of transportation for everyone and for the greater development of the country’s auto industry.
