A deal between Shanghai Post and SAIC Motor was signed on Feb 2, whereby the automaker would supply the delivery service with new-energy fleet vehicles for its routes across the city.

The contract marks the first order in 2016 for the new-energy auto market and will see Shanghai Post upgrade its old fleet vehicles to SAIC brands and models such as MAXUS, IVECO, and Hongyan.

The largest component of the deal includes the purchase of 300 EV80, pure electricity-driven wide-body light cars by SAIC MAXUS. Commentators have referred to the deal as being a tie-up between China’s most influential car enterprise and China’s largest postal enterprise.

SAIC has not only produced the first new-energy automobile order of Shanghai in 2016, but also continues to influence the new-energy automobile market in the city with partnering up with such as well-known institution as Shanghai Post.

In terms of driving mileage that urban express business is most concerned about, the battery capacity of EV90 is up to 75kwh and the highest battery driving mileage of one time is up to 370km, ranking the first among the same-type domestic products. The charging time of short-axis model takes only 2 hours. In terms of power performance, EV80 has more advanced configuration compared with some low-power electric machine with low configuration and power train of manual gearbox. Its peak twist of drive motor reaches 350 N/m and the drive power after matched to single-class variable speed system reaches 3000N/m with the hour speed over 150 kph, taking the lead in entire-car momentum performance of the same domestic types.
